Let's Get Religious

Sat Mar 18, 2017, 5:14 AM

Stop pooping on religion as if it's a bad thing. It's a neutral thing, can be good or bad, in the eyes of God, His structure of religion is very good.
"Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world." James 1:27

So let's get religious :D

Obscure Art Appreciation

Fri Feb 17, 2017, 12:33 AM

This certainly isn't a feature designed to insult, but a celebration of work that I find visually strange or obscure but also intriguing and effective. I want to share the weird and wonderfully surreal imagery I've come across on here.

I'm currently in a very low point and have been facing a fair bit of anxiety. The issue and reality of sin has lately been taking a large toll on me. I am constantly very sad and very angry. I need prayers. I am concerned this may become a mental illness. This past month in particular has been the worst. On top of that I have had many unfortunate things happen including deaths and not being accepted into the degree I was hoping for (positions were filled and it's the last time they're offering that degree - I don't know what's going to end up happening). I am also lacking fellowship. I think even if I was going every Sunday I would still feel the same. My current living conditions makes it awkward to change it just yet. I don't know what I need or where to go.
On the up side, thankfully my report for my final semester of my bachelor turned out well and I am confident in my art practice.

I will finish with an inspiring set of works

"The idea that the while human race is, in a sense, one thing - one huge organism, like a tree - must not be confused with the idea that individual differences do not matter or that real people... are somehow less important than collective things like classes, races and so forth. Indeed the two ideas are opposites. Things which are parts of a single organism may be very difference from one another: things which are not, may be very alike. Six pennies are quite separate and very alike: my nose and my lungs are very different but they are only alive at all because they are parts of my body and share its common life.
Christianity thinks of human individuals not as mere members of a group or items in a list, but as organs in a body - different from one another and each contributing what no other could.
When you find yourself wanting to turn your children, or pupils, or even your neighbours, into people exactly like yourself, remember that God probably never meant them to be that.
You and they are different organs, intended to do different things.
One the other hand, when you are tempted not to bother about someone else's trouble because they are 'no business of yours', remember that though he is different from you, he is part of the same organism as you.
If you forget that he belongs to the same organism as yourself, you will become an Individualist. If you forget that he is a difference organ from you, if you want to suppress differences and make people all alike, you will become Totalitarian.
But a Christian must be not be either a Totalitarian or an Individualist.

I feel a strong desire to tell you - and I expect you feel a strong desire to tell me - which of these two errors is the worse.
That is the devil getting at us.
He always sends errors into the world in pairs - pairs of opposites. And he always encourages us to spend a lot of time thinking which is the worse. Your see why, of course? He relies on your extra dislike of the one error to draw you gradually into the opposite one.
But do not let us be fooled. We have to keep our eyes on the goal and go straight through between both errors. We have no other concern than that with either of them."
~ CS Lewis, 'Mere Christianity', pp.185-186

"I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." Eph 4:1-6

"Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." Heb 10:23-25

"For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness.

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality." Rom 12:3-13

Instagramz + Feature

Journal Entry: Thu Aug 4, 2016, 6:05 AM

Well, I followed the trend and began an Instagram account. I am treating it differently to DeviantArt and Facebook. I will not be using it for social purposes other than to advertise my art, but instead of having a gallery like we do on this site, I will be using Instagram as a type of journal, to show behind the scenes of my work, (there will be some final products shared.) If you'd like to follow me, you can look me up "georgiedeeart" or find me here…

Also (like many people) I've only one day left of Premium :( But it's okay haha, I will still probably do features in later journals, but whilst I can have a pretty skin, I will do a feature of a selection of works from my 'Truly Inspiring' favourites folder. These are works that either conceptually, technically or both inspire me and really draw me into their work.

There were extremists that began the disruption, and men of the police decided to tag along. An apparent brawl between youth and local police started the tension and the youth/associated church group were accused of terrorism.  At least one church leader has been hospitalised from torture he suffered. Christians are still away from their homes in need of shelter and legal help to free their fellow brethren. (Please see links below for more detailed information).

Please urgent prayers are needed for Christians in Faisalabad, Pakistan. 2 days ago (19/05/2016) they were attacked by police during a church service and have captured and tortured brethren! Christians are fleeing their homes as the Pakistani government destroys the property of the Christian leaders! Please pray! Might God take down the enemy and the people keep their faith!

I understand that there are persecuted Christians everywhere, this particular event I decided to share because I know someone personally caught up in it. May we pray for all persecuted Christians keep their faith and find peace in God during these times of hardship and blessing.

CT just stared at her in mild disbelief. Why did everyone jump to the conclusion that her and Wash might be dating when in fact she wasn’t interested in him that way. Honestly they were no longer in high school – for goodness sake they were professional soldiers, the best of the best according to the Director, the scientific genius behind a secret military organisation known as Project Freelancer.
The brunette heaved a sigh, shoving her helmet into the locker before shutting it close with a quiet thud. Knowing that this was some kind of girl talk, something CT honestly had no interest in participating, she perched herself on the nearby bench. Needless to say she wasn’t surprised when the blonde haired woman followed suit.
“There’s nothing going on between us two,” she admitted, not caring
I'll Never LearnI don't feel a presence
Yet I can sense a set of eyes
Watching from afar, constantly
Looming over my shoulder like
I have committed a terrible sin.
I'm highly strung, tuneless like
An old forgotten guitar collecting
Dust after years of neglect; if I
Can't surrender to the path that's
Chosen for me, how can I ever learn?

And you are always seeking light
Striding past a street lamp so bright
You make your movements casual, slow
And keep the heavens in your sight
The full moon shines in silver glow
In anguish, you pace to and fro
Your spirit overwhelm with fright
For in your greatest depths, you know
Darkness stalks you throughout the night
Despite all it knows to be right
Mankind allows evil to flow
And in its reveling delight
The world is governed by shadows
From summer clouds to winter snow
The beauty of all that is white
Causes hope in your heart to grow
And you are always seeking light
Darkness in all its vim and might
Black as the feathers of a crow
Continues to pursue and bite
Continues to seek you out though-

I'm scared when I shouldn't be.

I have waited a while for this.

This is important to both of us.
I love you, I really do.
I really do want this.
I hate not knowing.

I love the life we have now.
Very few fights,
Very little pressure for sex.
But do I want more of that?
This is happening in a few months,
and I am truly scared.
Am I ready for this?
I have 4 months to choose... I'm scared.
Music From YouYou sit there, playing your guitar. You do this every time I'm over and it doesn't bother me anymore. When you first played it while I was over, it was annoying because I didn't get to cuddle with you but it sounded a bit like heaven. Even to this day it annoys me but a whole lot less.
You sit here in front of me, playing my song as I write this. I can hear the love, time and effort you put into this. You start to sing lyrics from Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here". Your voice is like an angel's and your skills at playing are amazing. I fall even more in love with you as you continue to play.
You don't realise you're an amazing guitarist and singer. You're singing will bring people joy and to tears. You have people rocking out now but soon you will have people slow dancing to your beautiful music. The music you play sometimes almost brings me to tears.
When you play my song, I just sit there and stare at you with such amazement and adoration. You have no idea what emotions run through m

Did you hear His cry?
As He fell from grace
Some did not
Leaving the rest of us to wonder
What are we to do?
The strong will stay strong
As they beat and torment the weak
The weak submit
So they will live
Kindness has saved no one
Neither has charisma
Manipulation has
Hatred has
The world has become sick
We are all waiting for Him to return
This is the issue
Whether He is there
or if He returns
Humankind will still do what they have been doing
For centuries
No moral compass can prevent that
Some of us are just broken
Missing a few parts
Missing dignity
Or love
Or humanity, entirely
We all wait for a day
When the world isn't so cruel
Until then
We will grit our teeth
And punish others for this reality we live in
That's what's been working so far...
LurkersThere is a place you do not go
The dark oblivion just before the dawn
This is where the Lurkers go
The hand of God took no part in them
They are not of His image
We made them
Their ravenous tendencies
Those unreasonable, burning insecurities
Their menacing ruby-red eyes
Envy, the stabbing pain in your heart
Their sharp, talon-like fingers
Your crippling fear of abandonment
We made the lurkers
Your bones will be picked clean
It’s an inevitability
We are all easy targets
We’ve lost our way
From broken dream
To broken heart
We are lost, not gone
And that’s what they are hoping for

Today, My Fellow Pioneers, Dreamers and Buddies, I will be telling you about my Portal experience.
If you have not played the game Portal before and might be considering playing it, you may want to be careful of how much of this you read. I'll try not to say too much but I might say a wee bit too much.
Basically, Portal is a first-person game in which the gamer must survive various puzzles by using a portal gun to create portals into different areas. Unfortunately, some things are portal-proof, so there are many roadblocks along the gamer's way through the puzzles, which makes the gamer think harder

Making sure it’s not neglected

When the truth could save a soul
Neglecting to pass on this needed  help
Is like ignoring a sign on a pole
A message was nailed to a pole long ago
Made out of two pieces of wood
A man chose to die, hanging in pain
Just to save everyone that he could
Don’t ignore the message of the Cross
Proclaimed in cities today
The truth is there to save your life
And Jesus is the only way
Let the message save you while it can
Before life ends and it’s too late
It’s a serious reality that requires  a choice

Prayers Please

Journal Entry: Mon Apr 18, 2016, 4:26 PM
I am feeling down right now. My car’s been vandalised and it’s yet to be picked up by the mechanic. I’ve had a petty argument with someone which resulted in them not talking to me. I’m behind in my university work; feeling overwhelmed and extremely unmotivated. And I’m just not feeling God’s presence.
Prayers would be nice.

Questions to me

1. What is a quote that relates to you a lot?
"Instinct must be thwarted just as one prunes the branches of a tree so that it will grow better." ~ Henri Matisse

2. Do you believe in an afterlife?
Yes, I do. I believe in God the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. And I believe that through faith in Jesus Christ, The Son, that I may be rewarded eternal life in His heavenly abode.

3. Name one thing you miss about being a kid and one thing you love about being older.
I miss everything seeming like it was huge. Like walking into a Museum or going to a festival, things were much bigger and were more of an adventure.
As an adult I love being able to look after myself haha

4. Would you say you are a clean or a messy person?
I like keeping things organised and categorised, however such places like my desk is always untidy.
Because of the amount of stuff I have, wherever I live tends to be quite messy, however if I
had more storage space, I would be neat indeed.

5. What country would you like to visit the most?
This is tough but probably the US, because of my online friends over there
and there's also many places to see. Also, awesome art in the USA!

6. Do you have any favourite celebrities?
Eh, not really. When I was younger I went through my phases and celeb crushes but nothing really now.

7. What is the first thing you notice about other people?
Idk, if a girl looks really nice maybe her make up.

8. What are your favourite smells?
An abundance of nice smelling flowers, or nature in general. I just love fresh air with nature.
Old books and surprisingly coffee, even though I don't like drinking it.

9. Do you believe everything happens for a reason, or that some people are just luckier than others?
Everything happens for a reason.

10. Do you have a favourite gemstone?
Ah, not really. I admire them all equally. I do like purple gems with rose gold.
And I love agate rocks and petrified wood, that stuff is awesome

11. What is your favourite thing to cook? (If you don't cook, what is your favourite thing to eat?)
I'm not keen on cooking but I think later in life when I will I would probably enjoy baking (especially sweet food).

12. When you're drawing/writing do you listen to music and if so, do you prefer peaceful music or upbeat music?
I listen to anything and everything. But I don't really listen to music when I'm writing, if I do it's probably classical.
If I'm drawing, maybe it is Christian music or rock or pop. Whatever lol. Indie, alternative, all of it!

13. There are lot of movies planned to come out this year. Do you have a particular favourite that you want to see?
I don't know if I'll end up seeing them, but Deadpool, Me Before You and Hail, Caeser. (I can't remember any others right now)

13 Things About Georgie

I'll try to mention things I haven't mentioned before

1. My "relaxation music" is the album 'If You Wait' by London Grammar
2. I used to only think of my photography as being something small and on the side and that "photographer" was not a title I was wanting to embrace. But as I've got to know my camera and understand photography better I've now accepted it as a part of my art practice and wouldn't mind becoming a professional photographer one day.
3. On top of my studio practice and art theory this final year at university, I have 2 projects classes.
For my first project class my theme is going to be 'Fire & Charcoal'.
4. I am planning on organising an exihibition for myself next year or 2018 for
some of my work which I'll create this year.
5. I don't understand grieving, especially for a fellow Christian who's passed away.
This is not to say I haven't grieved or mourned in the past, but currently it's bothering
me that Christians grieve for each other's passing into Heaven.
6. I don't like living in the cities
7. I prefer charcoal over graphite
8. To be more "specific" about my faith, I am a Lutheran Continuationist.
However I don't necessarily think all the traditions are necessary which the majority of the Lutheran
church takes part in. I believe women can be pastors but not overseers. And I don't think
one has to be ordained in order to give communion.
9. My current favourite colour theme is purples, plums, oranges and yellows. However,
I feel my love may, in the future, shift to turquoises, shades of blue, pale greens, yellow and white.
10. I am going to try to incoporate my faith and Biblical messages throughout my traditional art a lot from now.
11. I have a large to-read list and I have a large interest to read these books
but I lack motivation.
12. A few weeks ago, I started making handmade Christmas cards, ready for next year lol
13. I am giving up chocolate and possibly some internet activies for Lent.

My Questions for You!

1. What's your favourite art style?
2. Have you thought about what you might name your possible future children? If so, what names?
3. What brought you (or brought you back) to the DeviantArt community?
4. What do elephants symbolize to you?
5. In what environment do you work best in?
6. Have you ever had reptitive dreams? If so, what happened in them?
7. Are you a control freak of any kind?
8. Is there a place you'd rather be right now? Where?
9. Do you excersise/workout? Or are you a "gym freak"?
10. Gold, silver, white gold or rose gold? (Aesthetic preference)
11. Is there any brand or type of technology that you just won't use? And why is that so?
12. What do you think of this quote?
"Now faith, hope, and love remain—these three things—and the greatest of these is love."
13. How many fingers am I holding up?

(You don't have to do this)

Happy New Year guys :la:

Hope you are staying safe during the festive season.
I would like notify you guys that I will be purchasing Premium/Core
pretty soon and will be changing my username on here.
I will be changing it to GeorgieDeeArt.
I know it can be frustrating when people change names on here
but I hope you can take note of this (it is my name afterall :P)

For my Christian buds, the past couple of months
I have been lacking in fellowship (several reasons)
and also have had a hard time hearing
what God's been saying to me...
There is no lack of His presence, it's just that I've become
deaf or something. But below is what I think
was a message from God, which I'd like to share with you:

"I looked out my window to where the moon was shining.
And through the glass of my window the light refraction of
the moon was creating a cross of light.

Not long after a small cloud lifted and approached the cross.
The first half of the cross looked like an elephant
side on with its trunk and stumpy legs.
Then I saw its tail appear, and attached to it -
the second half of the cloud - was a baby elephant holding
onto the end of the tail of the other elephant.
Only moments before I had prayed with
a friend to God about guidance and nuturing in Christ.

Have you seen a family of elephants? They are always happy and
helping each other. But not only that, when the younger elephant
joins on, it cannot see what is in front of its parent.
The parent guides and the infant in good faith trusts them.

I must take up my cross with Christ and trust in God the Father to
guide me, even if I cannot see the path."

I am being cautious as my imagination may have played
part to this, but it is still a good message.

If you're interested I wrote this just before this happened,
you can find it here: His Light

I've been thinking about starting my own group on here. I have mentioned this before, a couple years ago, but I didn't have a good enough idea. I think now I would have a group for intermediate level artists of all ages, with semi-strict selection, across all visual art: craft, sculpture, traditional, contemporary, digital and photographic. However my only problem is that I don't know what my internet connection will be like in the future and I don't really know if I'll be able to get the right admin for the group, who have similar standards to mine.
